CreepyHero Studio's wagon accessories pack

CreepyHero Studio’s wagon accessories pack is perfect for dressing up your MDF wagons.

In recent blogs, I’ve featured unbridled and unsaddled horses and an Old West general store set sold by CreepyHero Studios.

Today, I wanted to take a look at some of their other sets — some good, some not so good.

First up, a wagon accessories set, pictured above, which I consider a stroke of genius.

Why? Well, if you’re looking for affordable wagons to serve as terrain in your Wild West town, your most affordable option is to go with MDF wagons available from Things From the Basement, Sarissa Precision or 4Ground (now no longer in production).

The wagons look great. They assemble with ease. You can pick them up for about a third of what you’d pay for metal counterparts.

But they are plain. No water barrels, No storage chests. Nothing extra attached to the wagons.

That’s where this set comes in. It comes with one water barrel, two chests, one washing board with a cooking pan tied onto it — all items you can easily attached to the outside of those MDF wagons. It also comes with a fancy headboard and a sack of grain for inside the wagon.

The set sells for just $2.15, and you can use it to make each of those MDF wagons look different, something that isn’t even an option with their more expensive metal counterparts.

Next up, a saloon accessories set (or wall hanging set), which sells for less than $2. I pretty much bought this one because I wanted the wall-mounted rifle, something you see in so many Westerns.

It also comes with two painting frames or mirrors. I painted the trim gold and figure I can find old paintings online to print to the appropriate size and glue in place.

And there’s a mounted set of horns and five items not included in the photo — four tiny candle holders and candles, which I haven’t tried painting yet and another wall mount / mirror of some sort.

I also purchased and painted a set of stocked general store shelves from CreepyHero. Two things I love about these — they aren’t oversized, and the detail is really impressive. There’s a small stack of dining plates on one shelf, with a tiny groove between the plates so you can tell it’s a stack of plates.

This set sells for $4.19, which I’d consider a bargain if you only got one set of shelves. In fact, you get two sets, though the photo above includes just one.

Now, in my CreepyHero buying binge, I did purchase two items I wouldn’t recommend.

The first is a Wild West weapons set. You’ll probably have difficulty seeing it in the photo, but the triggers on about a third of the long guns in the pack I purchased didn’t print.

The trigger on a fourth disintegrated when I picked up the piece. That’s how incredibly fragile the small parts of the prints are.

The other set I wouldn’t recommend is the signs set. One of the signs in the set I purchased arrived broken. You might be able to see that in the middle of the photo above.

Honestly, it’s just as well that happened. Because it alerted me to how fragile the connections are between the portion of the sign you’d attach to your building and the sign itself.

I can see these signs snapping off as soon as you bump them. That’s a headache I don’t need.

Still, all in all, I consider my CreepyHero purchases a very good bargain. And will be checking Etsy occasionally to see if they have released more Old West terrain pieces.
