George Martin plays Clint Harrison, a man tired of the nomadic life of a gunman, a man determined to reunite with his wife and son, if only he can find them.
His journey leads him to Saddle Rock, Wyoming, where he spots a young boy being teased about his gunfighter dad. He follows the boy to Green Circle Ranch. Sure enough, young Tom is his son.
But his lovely wife, Julie, isn’t so certain she wants a reunion with Clint. And, if he’s going to stay, it has to be on her terms, which means no more gunplay.
Seems years earlier, Clint gunned down a pair of men rustling cows on his ranch. He’s been on the run ever since, first from vengeance seekers, later from other gunmen just trying to make a name for themselves.
As much as Clint wants a peaceful life, it won’t be easy in Saddle Rock.
A rancher named Shannon wants to push the homesteaders, like Julie Harrison, out of the valley, and he has two sadistic sons and a loyal henchman named Ross to help accomplish that mission.
If the similarities to “Shane” don’t strike you, they will in the final scene. Very average, with a fair amount of over-the-top acting.
There’s also a strange attack on the town of Saddle Rock that makes little sense given the plot.
But it gave director Alfonzo Balacazar a chance to boost the body count, get some fire in the film and have Martin jump all over the place like an invincible acrobat armed with six-gun and rifle.

Memorable lines:
Clint: “If I stay here, I won’t be needin’ my guns. You keep them for me.”
Julie: “Think it over Clint. Because I won’t give them back.”
Don Shannon, to Clint: “Stay out of the way. I don’t like your stink.”
Ross, to Clint: “You’d better get movin’ before you get lead poison.”
Clint: “Sorry, I’m alright here.”
Clint to young Tom: “The hardest thing is to keep from throwing the first punch. Once you do that, you know the fight’s begun. What you don’t know, is when it’s going to end.”
Other tidbits:
Francisco Jose Huetos plays young Tom, Clint’s son, with some of the most annoying dubbing you’ll ever hear. He appeared in just four films, but was back for the remake, “The Return of Clint the Stranger” five years later.
If Marianna Koch, in the role of Julie Harrison, looks familiar to Spaghetti fans, it’s for a good reason. She also starred in the Sergio Leone classic, “A Fistful of Dollars.”
ah… never seen this movie but might picking up now this September/october the new dvd-release as I often met Pinkas Braun (Post office, auto repair shop/gas-station, restaurant). As he often played bad guys he scared me as f**** as kid when I saw/met him – as he lived around the corner.
