Matt McCoy is Kanning, a cynical bounty killer who always gets his man. John Terlesky is Carver, a gunman who will hire out to just about anyone.
At one time, they were colleagues in the Texas Rangers. Then Carver massacred some innocent people; Kanning also took the blame and wound up spending two years in prison.
Years later, the two still hold a grudge, one that takes on new life when Carver kills a whore named Rachel, who happens to be the sister of Kanning’s lover Donnie (Kelley LeBrock).
Carver figured the killing would anger his old enemy. What he didn’t know is that Donnie and two fellow prostitutes — Jess (Rochelle Swanson) and Glory (Kimberly Kelley) — will mount up in an effort to track him down as well.
This low-budget cross between a Spaghetti Western and a sexploitation film falls flat when it’s time for action. Or if you stop to think about what’s motivating the characters.
Carver has a well-paying jobs acquiring mines at gunpoint for the Bartell Mining Co. One minute, he’s asking Kanning to join him. The next he’s risking it all by murdering a woman he thinks is Kanning’s fiancée?
Kanning, at that point, owns the bar where Rachel is working. But he refuses to help track down her killer, even though she’s the sister of the woman he’s in love with? And, of course, he winds up on the killer’s trail anyway because he wants to watch over Donnie as she and her friends seek revenge.
As for the Spaghetti connection, one song on the soundtrack is lifted directly from “Any Gun Can Play.” As for the sexploitation aspect, Swanson and Kelley (not LeBrock) make for two of the curvier cowgirls you’re likely to find, and the plot veers off course a couple of times to give them an excuse to disrobe.
LeBrock, a former model, made a film splash in 1985’s “Weird Science” and married Steven Seagal, with whom she had three children.
