Having served three years of hard labor in prison for killing his father, Ted Barnett (Giuliano Gemma) breaks out and heads back to his hometown to search for the real killers.
He soons discovers the town sheriff and a leading citizen named Cobb are using his father’s railroad to make a fortune by smuggling U.S. arms to Mexicans under the command of Gen. Porfirio.
But to prove his innocence and get the revenge he’s seeking, he’s going to need help from an old flame (Nieves Navarro as Dolly) who’s now married to the sheriff.
He also gets assistance from a couple of new acquaintances, a traveling salesman named Pajarito, who sometimes works as a doctor or dentist, and his pretty daughter Wildwood Dulcy.
Once he has the evidence he needs, Ted turns it over to a judge. But the law let him down once in this case. Will justice be served this time around?
Made when Gemma was churning out highly entertaining Spaghetti Westerns on a regular basis, this one is no exception and includes a couple of familiar faces from his Ringo films — Navarro and Manuel Muniz.
Among the memorable scenes: The sheriff flinging his badge to kill a troublesome bug, an original prison escape, and the bad guys hanging pretty Wildwood from the gallows by her wrists to lure Barnett out of hiding in a key scene.
A lively score helps. But beware of a chopped up 90-minute version of the film. In it, Wildwood and her dad disappear in the middle of the film, making their interest in Barnett’s fate at the end a bit confusing.

Memorable lines:
Douglas: “You’re main trouble, Ted, among a heap of troubles — I hope you don’t mind my saying so — is you’re a dead ringer for your old man.”
Ted, after being slapped for sneaking a kiss from Wildwood while she’s sleeping: “One day, when there’s time to, I’ve got to teach you better manners.”
Pajarito, indicating the body on the back of Ted Barnett’s horse: “Hey, what’s that you got in back of you?”
Ted: “A dead bird. A big one that was always pecking at me.”
Cobb: “Farewell, Barnett. A drink? One for the road?”
Ted Barnett, standing on the gallows: “No thanks. Never in the morning. Bad for my health.”
Trivia:
Conrado San Martin had uncredited roles in Sergio Leone’s “Once Upon a Time in the West” (1968) and “Duck You Sucker” (1971). In the latter, he plays the driver of the stagecoach held up by Juan Miranda (Rod Steiger) in the film’s opening scene.
Gabrielle Giorgelli attracted the attention of the film industry through the 1961 Miss Italy pageant and through her appearances in Sadistik photo novels. She eventually appeared in eight Spaghetti Westerns, including “The Beast” (1970), which starred Klaus Kinski, and “Those Dirty Dogs” (1972).
