Six Guns for Six Women (1971)

Six Women (1971) poster Two saloon girls question a preacher’s manhood when their attempts to seduce him fails, so he vows vengeance.

Next thing you know, six town whores are being marched out of town by the preacher. Their destination: the prison in Sonora, a three-day buckboard ride away.

The vulgar Charley (Mike Angel) has the job of driving that buckboard and will receive a payment of $5 per whore upon his arrival in Sonora.

He’ll be assisted by his simple-minded friend named George and a handsome cowboy named R.G. (James Lemp).

On the first night out, Charley catches one of the whores trying to escape. So the next morning, he strings her from a tree and whips her as a lesson to the other five.

That’s just the start of the troubles on this journey. But it is the act that prompts Maud (Marsha Jordan) to proclaim that she’ll kill Charley the first chance she gets.

Review:

A straight-up sexploitation Western with a plot that manages to get all six women undressed and includes a surprising dose of violence mixed in.

That said, it could be much worse. It features an attractive female cast, and Mike Angel seems to have some acting skills in the lead role.

It’s just a shame the script calls for him to provide a running commentary on his bodily functions.

Top-billed female Marsha Jordan, a curvy blonde, was a sexploitation queen of the period, appearing in about 40 films between 1968 and 1972. She also appeared in at least two other Western themed films, Brand of Shame (1968) and The Ramrodder (1969).

But Linda McDowell, who falls for handsome R.G., is the most enthusiast member of this female cast.

Memorable lines:

Preacher: “They’re going to love you girls in Sonora. They’ll burn the sin out of your bodies. And out of your souls.”

George: “That was a long, hard ride.”
Charley: “Surely was. I can always tell by how long it takes me to piss.”

Mary to R.G.: “Once in a while, everything turns out wrong. Sometimes, we take a step off the road and can’t seem to get back on again.”

Charley, catching Maud trying to steal a shotgun: “Try that again and I’m going to shoot two holes where your tits used to be.”
