Isaac LeMay has spent his life clearing the frontier of Cheyenne with little regard for the consequences.
Ah, but there are consequences. Cheyenne Chief White Thunder places a curese on LeMay: He’ll be killed by one of his own children.
Haunted by the prophecy, LeMay (Sam Worthington) begins tracking down his sons, all sired by whores.
In fact, he leaves a trail of dead sons from Kansas City to Nebraska until just one remains, Cal (Colson Baker, aka Machine Gun Kelly), the son of a whore named Anna (Heather Graham).
Cal’s a killer himself. In fact, he’s just stolen a Gatling gun from an army detail, leaving dead soldiers in his wake.
Because of that, he’s being tracked by a cavalry lieutenant named Solomon (Thomas Jane), who happens to be Anna’s lover.
Meanwhile, the one child Isaac spares, a 16-year-old daughter named Megan, is wandering the countryside after her adoptive father is killed and her mother goes mad.
She winds up in Red Bluff, just as the paths of Solomon, Cal and Isaac converge on the town’s snow-covered streets.
Far from a perfect Western. With his faint rasp and lumbering stride, Sam Worthington comes off as too old and feeble in the role of a vicious killer cutting down his sons, one by one.
The role of Solomon makes little sense. He’s a cavalry lieutenant who bemoans the loss of his slain men and his Gatling gun, yet has the autonomy to go off searching for those responsible all on his own?
Worse yet, the ending is predictable.
Ah, but there are positives too. Colson Baker, aka Machine Gun Kelly, is surprisingly effective in the role of the young killer.
And Heather Graham nails her role as a whore determined to protect the son she once abandoned, regardless of what he’s done.
Best of all, the material is stylishly handled, with quick bursts of violence, and comes across as fresh enough to be welcome viewing for fans of the genre used to tiny-budget time-wasters.
My favorite image: Young Meghan popping candies into her mouth as she watches the violence around her unfold.

Memorable lines:
Anna, after Isaac has made a violent visit: “I just wanna know why?”
Fellow whore: “Why what?’
Anna: “Why the devil won’t leave us alone.”
Isaac LeMay: “Is the curse over?”
Ghost by fire: “It’s not a curse. It’s a prophecy.”
Gideon, chasing son-killer Isaac LeMay: “We need a tracker who knows these parts. I hear you’re that man. Pay you a dollar a day.”
Solomon: “Don’t care about the money.”
Gideon: “Then do it for Jesus.”
Solomon: “I care about him even less.”
Storekeeper: “I like your locket. What do you got inside? A picture of your parents? Or your sweetheart?”
Meghan: “Nobody.”
Patty to his friend Cal: “A little secret about legendary gunfighters. They tend to die like everyone else when they’re shot in the head.”
