Three men — Frame Johnson, Luther McKinney and Matt Cole — rob a bank and make off with the loot, bound for the Colorado River.
But a second gang, led by vicious Dutch Henry and his sharp-shooting lady friend Corinna, is also active in these here parts.
Dutch and his men come across a couple of newlyweds. They rob them, shoot the husband and kidnap the wife.
Suddenly, Dutch has a new favorite gal in pretty Olivia Noland, who he has every intention of soiling as soon as time permits.
The three “bad men” come across the husband. His dying wish: Rescue my wife.
Frame, who lost his wife to childbirth years earlier, can’t deny that request. So there’s a detour en route to the Colorado.
And another complication. Back in town, Ed Fiske is pretty mad about his bank being robbed and sends his hand-picked sheriff and a posse to retrieve the money and the outlaws.
Grade Z stupidity. I mean, this is a Western with no redeeming qualities. No one in it can act, or at least they don’t show it in this outing. The script is full of cliches and some of those are used repeatedly. The gunfights are poorly filmed.
Dutch Henry hardly seems vicious. The bad men hardly seem bad. And the damsel in distress manages to trudge through the desert for days and her white blouse is still every bit as tidy as when she first appears on screen.
Want laughable scenes? There are plenty of those. Like when a deputy gets conked over the head with the butt of a gun. The next morning, the sheriff decides the deputy can’t go on. He’s lost too much blood!
George Kennedy gets top billing, but he’s only in the film for a couple of minutes. And those two scenes do nothing to elevate the film. Fact is, they’re pretty embarrassing for a guy with his resume.
